Our Kaupapa for Learning

Education

At Portland School, our learning kaupapa is deeply rooted in the holistic framework of Te Whare Tapa Whā, encompassing the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being of our students. We are proud to offer extensive Structured Literacy and Numeracy programs that run daily, ensuring a strong foundation in core academic skills. In addition, we integrate our rich culture through waiata and Karakia, fostering a sense of identity, belonging, and cultural pride among our students. Our approach extends beyond academics; we prioritize whanaungatanga, building strong relationships and connections within our school community. Furthermore, we have embedded a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) approach across our kura, promoting a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where every student can thrive and reach their full potential.
